Head of Year Letter Bundle | Behaviour Uniform Homework Letters

(0)
In this resource, you will find 5 letter templates for use as Head of Year. These have been collated using my experience as Head of Year as well as having seen request for letter templates from new pastoral leaders. These are not from a specific school but have been edited and created for the purpose of sharing. This resource includes: 1 x behaviour warning letter 1 x bus/school transport warning letter 1 x lunch time behaviour warning letter 1 x homework letter 1 x uniform, equipment and late letter Please remember to always tailor letters to your context and to your community. I do not recommend simply copying these over and sending them out - they will need adjusting for your specific setting. They are intended to be a starting point. These are perfect for heads of year who are just beginning the role as well as experienced heads of year who do not want to reinvent the wheel. If you find these useful, please leave a review! Technology Mobile Phone Awareness - Unplugging Assembly - Head of Year

(0)
This resource is an assembly focused on ‘unplugging’. It was created for National Unplugging Day but could be used for any time you are concerned about the use of technology in your year groups. At the end of the assembly, students are asked to volunteer their phones for a set amount of time. I chose until the end of the school day. Students were given a plastic sandwich bag and label and their wrote their name on the bag, alongside sealing the bag with a knot. On the way out of the assembly, students hand their phone in - placing them in a box. This box is then safely stored in a locked office or safe. Students were then able to collect their phones at the end of the day. For participating, students got a reward of a text home and positive reward points. I tried this assembly twice with my year group and each time got over 60% participation. Students were always exceptionally reflective and were often surprised by how uncomfortable they felt without their phones. This is a great way to get students reflecting on their reliance on technology and their potential overuse of phones and other electronics. Please ALWAYS be responsible with student belongings - students handing phones in should be treated with respect and stored securely at all times. Please leave a review if find the assembly use and consider following my page: www.facebook.com/teachcoach

How Students Learn and Revise - CPD - Professional Development - RQT NQT - Experienced Teachers

This resource aims to develop teacher understanding on how to support best learning and revision. It is not specific to exams, but covers ‘learning effectively’ which applies to both exam preparation as well as learning in general in lessons time. The resource covers: how the brain works and how the brain learns, including the science behind learning a new skill how to build new knowledge pathways in the brain interleaved learning spaced learning concept mapping/retrieval practice failure as a learning tool collaborative retrieval as a learning tool This session also includes: 3 videos (not owned by me - included to develop knowledge) a ‘starter’ and a ‘plenary’ for use in the CPD a midpoint learning check an activity for department to spend time thinking about their practice You can also find a PDF of ‘revision strategies’ attached as a follow up for staff. This is a great activity for teachers of all experience but would be especially good for RQTs or NQTs who may just be starting to think about how students learn. This could also be good for form tutors of Y11 and Y10 to think about in preparation for exams. Please make sure you follow me on facebook: facebook.com/teachcoach

Introduction to British Values - Tolerance and Respect Session

(0)
This resource is a PSHE style lesson introducing the concept of British Values. It focuses on challenging perceptions of British Values only being ‘British’ and instead focuses on asking students to think about the values as being values important to everyone. It also challenges stereotypes of what it means to be British. The second half of this session uses Grenfell Tower as an example of how British Values can be demonstrated in a time of extreme challenge and focuses on how those in the tower and those who supported after the events demonstrated British values. This lesson is completely ready for use and comprises of a powerpoint as well as an A3 learning mat. Please also follow me on: www.facebook.com/teachcoach

CPD Lead | Teaching and Learning Coach | Teaching Mentor Application Covering Letter

(0)
In this resource, you will find a 4 page example teacher coach/teaching mentor/CPD lead application letter or supporting statement. These are usually roles which lead on coaching teachers and offering teaching and learning support for staff within school and are often internal positions. These may also be staff who lead on CPD, who audit CPD needs within school and work as a team with the SLT link for learning and teaching. This letter is useful if you are applying for any of these roles and should give you a great starting point. This resource is full of ideas for your own letter and is a great base for writing your own application. I always recommend making sure your own letter fits descriptions for roles and never send a blanket letter to schools or for internal positions. Data Analysis Task Example - Head of Year Pastoral - In Tray Interview Practice - Set 1

(1)
This resource is my first set of practice data task for Heads of Year/Pastoral Leaders preparing for interview. The resource provides a fictionalised set of data from a fictionalised year group, space to analyse the data yourself and to come up with your three priorities. In addition, I provide the three priorities I would identify in timed conditions as well as the ‘answers’ I would provide in an interview circumstance. This is the great way to practice your data analysis skills for interview from a pastoral perspective. This resource goes well with my other resources on raising attainment and analysing data as a pastoral leader. You can find a 2nd example of this in tray here: https://www.tes.com/teaching-resource/resource-12732369. This is another set of data to provide a 2nd chance to practice prior to interview. Teaching Teacher Interview Preparation | Prioritisation Task | In Tray Guidance and Example

In this resource you will find guidance on prioritisation in tray task. This guidance goes through the purpose of an in tray like this, including why they’re used, how to ace them and things to avoid! This document also provides an example prioritisation task for you to practice prior to the interview. Please note: this resource does include a worked example of the answers but this order is without justification - this is because there is no set correct answers for a priorisation task - you only need to make informed and educated decisions and justify your answers clearly. Your answers may be different to the ones on the template - but this does not make them incorrect as long as you clearly and rationally justified your answers.
